Every land has its valleys and peaks, and every valley has its hills and every mountain range has its crevices.
A young boy once waited too long in the shallows. The water, crimson in his eyes, washed his knees. He knew the color, he knew the danger. He waited.
The boy grew. The water, now black, reached his chest. The tow was strong, and his feet were buried in the sand below. Diabolic fish swam beneath, unseen. The boy stood, waiting. But the pull was strong.
The boy became a man. The water became white, yet opaque, shrouding the wet earth below. It now reached his eyes. The waves tugged, pulled, and seaweed clasped his ankles like chains. Trapped, the water, colorless and treacherous, rolled over his head. He drowned.
The waves calmed. The waters shifted, becoming a clear azure. The man's body rested atop an underwater peak, saved from the pressures of unseen fathoms. A secret force touched him. Oxygen was forced into his lungs. His eyes opened.
This is his domain now. Here he will stay, until other forces pull him elsewhere. But now, this is his home. This peak in an alien world.
